Murine Embryonic Stem Cell Core
Est. August 1, 1996
Services Offered
The American Type Culture Collection now offers 4 cell lines originating from this Core service. These cell lines are RW.4, SCC10, B6/BLU and EDJ22.
B6/BLU; EDJ-22; SCC-10, B6-GFP Murine Stem Cells
Established quality controlled embryonic stem cell lines (B6/BLU; EDJ-22; SCC-10; B6-GFP) are available to the Washington University Community only. These ES lines are highly efficient and have proven germline capabilities. All Washington University investigators are allowed to purchase up to 6 vials per year for their laboratories.
One vial of our ES cells will provide enough ES cells for one electroporation by our protocol. If these vials are expanded further in your laboratory for further electroporations, we cannot guarantee their ability to go germline. To order a vial of our ES cells from the ES Core, please direct a FAX to us at 362-4298 or E-mail your request to Jacqueline Mudd, Martha Juhl, or Nichole Havey, Email: escore@im.wustl.edu Please leave your phone number or E-mail address so we can contact you with a good time for you to pick up your cells.
Cost: $250.00 per vial
Expansion of Targeted ES clones
Cost: $100 per clone expanded (Maximum expansion of 10 clones).
3 full time senior technicians will provide instruction in the following techniques:
- Transfection of targeting constructs into embryonic stem cell lines
- Selection of targeted clones
- Picking and expansion of clones (up to 144)
- Cryopreservation and generation of cells for identification of homologous recombinants

(requires a Material Transfer Agreement for non-Washington University researchers)
Standard transfections - $1,800.00 (for up to 144 picked clones)
Cre transfections
- $1,000.00 (if 48 clones are picked)
- $1,800.00 (if 144 clones are picked)
After receipt of your application for an electroporation you will be advised of its scheduled date. We will require 40ug of LINEARIZED DNA at a concentration of 1 ug/ul in TE Buffer for this electroporation. We would like to have documentation at least one week prior to the scheduled electroporation in the form of a gel photograph of what is considered to be 1 ug of the sample DNA intended for use for transfection. Elaine Ross or Jacqueline Mudd will contact you to arrange your placement on the schedule.
Requirements from the WUMS investigator are detailed in the "Protocols" section.
Cost to Investigator:
$ 5000.00 base
The ES core will require an initial base fee of $2500.00 when the work begins and the final base fee of $2500.00 upon completion of the work.
The ES core cannot provide any guarantees.
+ $ 1000.00 per each primary line expanded
Additional Costs to Investigator:
