The ESC core has also produced a transgenic C57Bl/6J ES line that harbors the enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) reporter (B6-GFP). This transgene is driven and ubiquitously expressed by the CAGS promoter. When homologously targeted with a manipulated gene of interest, this ES line will provide a simple method for tracking targeted cells in the tissues of chimeric mice, and will allow us to rapidly assess chimerism in the blood at weaning, for the selection of mice to breed.
